This one we believe to be Hare’s ink foot (Coprinopsis lagopus), a delicate and short-lived fungus distributed throughout the world, with fruiting bodies that last only a few hours before dissolving into a black ink in a process called deliquescence. This one was growing in Haiku, Maui.
